Mixing Up Tangerine

With a color as bold as tangerine, it can be intimidating to try to make it fit with the rest of your wardrobe. But tangerine is going to make an impact this year. It was named Pantone's color of the year, and it was very present on the Spring 2012 runways. It also just happens to be a perfect color for the sunny days ahead.

So to make your life a little easier, here are some colors you should pair it with:

BLUE

Reds and oranges lie directly across blues, which makes them complementary colors. This combination gives you an opportunity to color block like a pro.
PLUM

The darker purple lets the tangerine be the attention grabber, while still allowing the pairing to be fresh and intriguing.

MORE OF THE SAME

Go within the same tone to build a monochromatic look. Instead of just picking the same shade of tangerine, go a bit darker or lighter to provide just a bit of contrast. The best part is whether you lean red or orange in your accompanying choices, you'll still have a fun look.

GO NEUTRAL

You can never go wrong with your grays, whites or blacks. Particularly with a cream-colored piece, the tangerine will pop.

YELLOW AND GOLD

Just as with red, tangerine meshes with yellows and golds because they are next to each other on the color wheel. Mixing them together with golds and darker yellows will bring warmth to your outfit.
