Your Type Of Swimwear

Just like with any article of clothing, it is important to find what works best with your body when looking to swimwear.

APPLE

Narrow hips, slim legs and broader shoulders mean you carry your weight on the top half of your body.

Look for a bathing suit top that supports so your biggest chest, which means that you should steer clear from strapless unless you can find one that works. Drawing attention away from this area can be done by wearing darker-colored tops or wearing brights and printed bottoms. Something heavy at the bottom will help you look more proportional.

BANANAS

Hips, waist and shoulders have similar measurements.

Your objective is to create curves, so find swimsuits with details, such as bows and ruffles. You don't have to worry about something adding too much volume, so busy prints and ruching will also work.

HOURGLASS

This shape is characterized by a narrow waist, and hips and bust that are almost the same size.
1, 2, 3, 4
Fifties-style swimsuits are built for hourglasses. Don't mix-and-match pieces because it will only draw attention to one area, making it look larger. You want the attention to go to your small waist, so don't disrupt it by having only a pattern or detail on top. Make sure it's also on the bottom.

PEAR

Your bust is smaller than your hip area, where you carry your weight.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5
To make you look more proportional, look for bathing suits that add volume to your top area. Details, brighter colors and patterns should be used in your top. The strapless bandeau is also something you can easily pull off.
