She may be known as the woman who King Edward VIII abdicated the throne to be with, but she was also known for her style. The Duchess of Windsor remains notable in fashion more than two decades after her death. Mouret designed a dress gold maxi dress for his F/W 2011-2012 collection that was inspired by Simpson. She frequently wore Mainbocher, and even had her own color, Wallis Blue, named for her by the designer. Her third wedding dress was in that blue.
Her sense of style might best be summed up by this quote: "I'm not a beautiful woman. I'm nothing to look at, so the only thing I can do is dress better than anyone else."
