LFW, Day 1

We've seen how New Yorkers interpret spring and summer in 2013, and now it's London's turn.

Here's how the first day went:

This fun little collection is heavy on shiny fabrics and metallics. It's a very straightforward collection with nothing remotely avant garde, but what this collection affectively does is incorporate silvers and other shimmery materials into a part of your everyday life. With simple (but shiny) shift dresses, T-shirts and ankle-length pants, all you need is to something basic to make it a more anytime, (m)any situations look.

Whenever a color that is not black or white comes into the mix, it's the main focus. Mostly, though, this collection was defined by abstract prints and asymmetrical cuts. It delved into many creative uses with garment construction--lapels that popped out, a piece that was half coat dress and half dress, and skirts that looked complicated to put together. Still, there were plenty of chic, substantial items for those that aren't too adventurous.

With its mix of scribbles and collages, it seems Antoni & Alison showed you what was on its mind. The pieces are a mood board that display thoughts, likes and dislikes. Well, at least that's how we interpret some of the things that were scribbled across. It has a sort of art school project vibe, but with professionals at the helm, it doesn't look crafty like any old project. Instead, it's highly impressive when it mixes colors together and how put together it can look despite many elements. Best of all, it gives the audience a more personal connection with the brand.
