LFW, Day 3

Day 3 marks the official halfway point of London Fashion Week. With a slightly longer list of shows on Sunday, we dived right in.

Here's what most stood out:

Temperley London

Spring 2013 is as ladylike as Spring 2012, but this time it's inspired by Morocco. And according to Temperley it's less about the dress, with an emphasis on separates. Vibrant colors, sheer fabrics and bold prints were the standouts. And although the clothes are fun, playful this season, it doesn't let you forget that they are also elegant.

Preen

It was a collection of juxtapositions. From animal prints to lacy florals and pattern mixing to minimalist cuts. Preen, who returned to London after showing in New York for many years, was inspired by "Buffalo 66," a dark American cult film. Stingray, crocodile and snake prints are at one end, and pink florals are at the other, so those with a flair for the dramatic or with a more ladylike aesthetic are covered.

Paul Smith

Color and menswear for women are staples at Paul Smith, and Spring 2013 was no different. But with the creative use of color and prints, it had a much more girlish feel to it. As a matter of fact, the high-waisted pants and ankle length were sometimes more feminine than the loose-fitting dresses. And as always, you can rely on a Paul Smith collection to give you ideas with color mixing.
