MFW, Day 1

Milan Fashion Week kicked off with a handful of shows and made a big splash.

Here's what we loved on the first day:

Paola Frani

This youthful collection has a mix of florals, faded colors and swirly patterns. Blues and pinks dominated the color scheme, and the most of the clothing had a relaxed fit. It leans toward pretty, but some of the accessories, such as a thick leather belt, served to give it a bit of edge.

Mila Schön

From pixels to chevrons to solid-colored items, the Mila Schön show ranges from fun and colorful to super luxurious and elegant. Matching shoes complemented each look, and proved this was an extremely girly collection. In fact, there are no room for pants, but what could have possibly led to a monotonous collection was solved by varying hem lines and every type of cut any gal would want in a dress.

Gucci

Vibrant colors made a big impact at Gucci. A beautiful salmon color, a royal blue, a sea foam green and citrine were used in a mostly minimalist aesthetic, but big sleeves and a bit of bejeweled embellishments added a break from the clean lines. Patterned pieces with abstract prints were tucked between the different colors, almost serving as an introduction to each new color. Rightly so because these bright hues were the stars of the show.
