It wasn't the most busy day of New York Fashion Week, but there was still enough to keep us entertained.
Here's what caught our eyes:
Rachel Roy

For spring and summer, it's not about subtlety for Rachel Roy. As a matter of fact, when you present a fuchsia dress that's complemented with a yellow hem, it's quite the opposite. It was a burst of colors and patterns, and basically anything that can infuse fun into your wardrobe. It's not a complicated formula, so it will surely be something that will be successful come spring and summertime.
Diesel Black Gold

Skin was in at Diesel Black Gold. Cutouts and mesh materials were featured in many pieces, but despite that and the big details--oversized coats, buttons that made a pattern and wrapped skirts--it was a fairly simple collection. Sticking to a mostly black-and-white palette, it was clean and sophisticated with a mix of youthful pizzazz thrown in.
Osklen

For its premiere show in New York, Osklen's theme was endless summer. With pink blending into orange to evoke sunsets and beach prints, it's hard to take your mind off of summer vacation. Despite the beachy theme, it's not particularly cutesy. Sure there are pastels and organza, but there's also something a bit dark about it. Blacks, deep blues and some eerie palm trees keep it from going in a very expected route. Designer Oskar Metsavaht said he was ready for a new audience and for Americans to see Brazilians' style. Well, he certainly has our attention.
