Fashion Inspiration: Millicent Rogers

For September, we'll be picking a fashion icon weekly in celebration of fashion month.

Milicent Rogers was a socialite, fashion icon and art collector. The American was quite often photographed and featured in Vogue and Harper's Bazaar in the 1920s. She also spent some time living in Switzerland, and then moved to Taos, New Mexico. She was one of the first celebrities to fight for the civil rights of Native Americans, and while living in New Mexico, she collected more than 2,000 Native American artifacts. Her love of Southwestern-style art and jewelry is credited as the reason it reached international and national fame. And for the Spring 2010 collection for Dior, John Galliano said she was his inspiration.
