The Red Carpet Trends We Are Over

There's a lot we ooh and ahh on the red carpet, but there are also some things we wish celebrities would stop doing when it comes to style.

1. PLATFORMS, ESPECIALLY PEEP TOES

1, 2, 3, 4
We're willing to give some sandals a pass, but we would love to never see another pump with a platform and peep toe. Why? They are too chunky and just add weight to the star's bottom half. And when heels are all about lengthening and making one look thinner, this trend is very confusing to us. And it seems like more and more, the platform is getting bigger. If they are going to go simple, then a sleeker heel will go much further and avoid competing with everything else.

2. TOO SHORT HEMLINES
1, 2
Sometimes the dresses are soooo short that we feel uncomfortable for stars. Besides, there's only so short you can go before it no longer gives you that desired long-legs effect. Some stars wear dresses that cut off at the widest part of their leg, which just draws your eye to that area.

3. SUPER SHINY, TAFFETA FABRICS
1, 2, 3, 4
These dresses often look stiff, and they remind us of prom dresses. Of course, our prom dresses wouldn't have cost nearly as much, so we also expect an elevated level of style at these events.

4. TRADITIONALLY MERMAID SILHOUETTES
1, 2, 3
We can do with a little bit of mermaid, but there's something about the fully mermaid silhouette that we just don't like. For one, it's a difficult look to wear. If you are pear-shaped or have some curves on your bottom half, you will look much bigger than you need to. And they look uncomfortable to walk in. The slight mermaid look will clear up all those problems.

5. TOO MUCH/BADLY BLENDED MAKE UP

We'll keep this one simple: Easy does it. There's a time and occasion for crazy make up, such as the Met Ball, but for the most part, too much make up can just be distracting.
