NYFW, Day 7 + 8 (FW13)

Since we were busy the day before and day 8 didn't have too many shows, it seemed appropriate to combine the two.

Here's what the last two days brought:

Proenza Schouler

After a season inspired by the rabbit hole that is the Internet, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez went in the opposite direction. The duo was inspired by a series of photographs by John Divola that captured the decay of beachside structures. This would perhaps signal to an eclectic collection, but really, it was refined. With a mostly black-and-white color scheme, it mimicked the patterns found on walls. It played with texture as well. To us, it was an impressive collection that managed to live up to last season's impressive collection.

Rachel Roy

Opulence was the theme at Rachel Roy. Certain details from 17th- and 18th-Century art inspired the looks. For the most part, it handled these over the top details well. Bold belts, embellishments down the side of pants and brocade all brought the right feel.
